We're going to start off rich, because if we're going to put something at #1, it should at least be the best. Yes, the price is scary for this MTG precon deck bundle, at writing this, it's for sale for $1,500 - but of course it is... this is Magic: The Gathering we're talking about.
We love this bundle of commander decks, because of how they are designed to be played against one another. Game night? Open the metal briefcase, and play.
Each deck is very themtically appropriate, and fun to play against each other. Each deck has 42 brand new cards for each deck, made just for these decks. With this bundle being the Collector's Edition, all the included cards are also surge foils. An entire deck being foil. Woah.
In terms of what the decks do, the Tyranid Swarm deck focuses on building a massive army with adaptable creatures and counters, though it falls slightly short in power compared to the other decks. The Ruinous Powers deck brings Chaos to life with mechanics like cascade and randomness, creating a fun yet unpredictable playstyle Necron Dynasties, a mono-black deck, emphasizes artifact strategies and combos, featuring powerful commanders like Trazyn the Infinite for limitless possibilities. Forces of the Imperium excels in token creation and board control, with Marneus Calgar offering powerful synergies for card draw and resource generation.
Yes, this is the good stuff. We are giving you permision to treat yourself...
Want to buy it? Well it's too rich for our little toy store, but you can get them on Amazon here:
| Pros | Cons |
| They are perfect to be played against one another for a thematic commander game. | Expensive and going up in price over time. |
| Each deck is individually strong outside of the closed matchups | |
| Beautiful unique cards, and all foils |
Okay lets be honest, $1,500 is probably out of the budget for most people. So lets tone it down a little, and do something a bit more palletable. This bundle of thematic The Lord of the Rings decks are (as of writing this), slightly under $200 which is around $50 per deck. Not bad.
For the same reason the other bundle is excellent, this bundle is similarly excellent as well. These are strong decks individually, but are excellent to be played together during a game night. Sauron vs Galadriel matchup? Nice. If you don't like LOTR, that's fine too, they are just enjoyable to play regardless.
Curious what the decks do? The Elven Council deck leverages Elf synergy and voting mechanics to influence opponents and secure battlefield advantages with strategic spells and buffs. The Hosts of Mordor is a deck that features Sauron and a host of Orcs and Goblins that overwhelm opponents with massive creatures and spell-triggered abilities. The Riders of Rohan deck is focused on Humans and monarch mechanics, this deck floods the board with tokens and exploits combat synergies for dominance. Lastly, the Food and Fellowship deck is centered around Hobbits, Food tokens, and lifegain, this synergistic deck ramps effectively and unleashes powerful abilities for late-game victories.
This is a perfect pick if you want some commander decks. Affordable, beautiful, fun, the bundle allows you to play in a balanced group setting (sorry, Steve, your turn-2, 20-minute-turn, win-con deck isn’t fun to play against)
Buy it. Again, you'll have to turn to Amazon to get it as we don't have any in-stock, but check it out anyways by clicking this link:
| Pros | Cons |
| Affordable (About $50 per deck as of writing this) | If you don't like LOTR, you may not like this bundle |
| Each deck features 20 never-before-seen cards | |
| Perfect for a game night as they are all balanced to one another and thematic to play against each other. |
