We're a small business in Wisconsin!
If you’re new to the world of gel blasting, you probably want to know what it’s all about. Gunplay is very popular amongst both kids and adults, but before you take up gel blasting you should know a few things in order to play like a pro. In this article, we’ve compiled all the essentials to help you learn about the different types of gel blasters and more. Let’s get into it!
Gel Blasting is a gun sport similar to airsoft or paintball. However, this game uses water-filled gel balls that are shot from plastic guns, called gel basters, and they don’t hurt as much as airsoft pellets and they don’t stain like paintballs.

Gel Blasters can go by many names, such as water gel basters, water ball guns, Orbeez guns, water pellet guns, or splatter ball guns. These toys shoot non-toxic and non-harmful water beads known as gel balls.
A gel ball is a super absorbent polymer. They are very small but expand when they are submerged in water. The longer they’re in the water the bigger they get. Gel balls also go by Orbeez which is a brand name.
Various sellers also sell water beads called water bullets. These are known to explode into a thousand pieces on impact. Over time, they dehydrate and shrink into biodegradable powder.

There are three different types of Gel Blaster Guns.
Spring Gel Blasters are less expensive and not as trendy as the other options. After each fire, you have to reload and cock the gun manually, which is why they often go by another name: Manual Blasters.
Electric blasters are battery-operated and are less expensive. The gun is automatically reloaded and cocked each time after they're fired. They offer different firing modes, from single fire to full auto, making them suitable for newbies and experienced combatants.
These guns are powered by 7.4V or 11.1V rechargeable Lipo (Lithium Polymer) batteries along with a spring and motor. A blaster with a higher voltage battery has a higher rate of fire which means the gel balls may hit harder.
These guns are either top-mounted hopper-fed or bottom-mounted magazine-fed. After loading the gun, when you pull the trigger, pressure is produced which ultimately shoots the gel balls out of the gun.
Gas Gel Blasters use compressed air to fire the gel balls. They are very expensive and are difficult to maintain. Because of their lethal firing rate, they can’t be used as a family blaster or a toy.
These are not available on Amazon but you can purchase these gel blasters online from any retailer.
Gel Blasters come in many forms, allowing people to play different types of blasting games in their backyard, whether it's with family, for a tournament, or with a sports club.
Gel Blasters come in various styles, namely Pistols, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Submachine Guns(SMGs), Light Machine Guns(LMGs), and Sniper Rifles. Each has its own unique features, and they are better suited for various purposes.

When it comes to choosing a product, the very first thing in decision-making is:
Gel Blasting is a hobby and the hobbyist chooses the equipment that he fancies the most. But it shouldn’t mean that you break the bank to buy an expensive gun.
We recommend starting with a cheaper blaster because your first gel gun is meant to get your feet wet and you’ll learn which blaster suits you best. Once you’ve got the skills down, then you can move on to a more expensive, or even customizable, gun. We strongly emphasize that you should never give a gel baster that resembles a gun to your child. The Surge Gel Blaster, which has three different firing modes, is the best gel blaster for beginners, especially for kids.
You should buy a blaster that you’re comfortable with. If you’re taller, a blaster with a short stock or barrel will make it difficult to aim and control the gun. On the contrary, for a short person, a long blaster will be difficult to control because you’ll have to stretch your arms uncomfortably to use it.
In case you are buying for a kid, always go with a weighted gun that is easy to carry and has a trigger area that fits a kid’s small hands. The next step is to check the fire rate of the gel blaster. It’s better to choose the one that allows different fire modes, from single shot to fully automatic, making it suitable for casual and avid shooters.
Try to buy your first blaster from a proven brand. The cheap blasters can go out of order after some time, which may ruin your experience in the middle of a game. There are blasters from trustworthy brands available at affordable prices and they can serve as a good startup blaster.
Last but not least is your play scenario. If you’re going to compete then buy a blaster that is designed for accuracy and speed. If you’re buying just for fun then any gun can work.

Accessories for beginners include ammo, batteries, and eye protection. You’ll get these with every blaster you purchase. If you end up really enjoying the game and want to play more often or in competitions, we recommend getting extra magazines, ammo, batteries, hop-ups, gun-sling, scope and sight, targets, foregrips, and flashlights.
Gel Blasting is an intense action game that can be played for hours. Here is a list of safety rules that you should follow with each game.

In countries like Australia, where gel gun usage is illegal, there are special gel blaster fields where you can play. These fields offer different play scenarios and also conduct proper tournaments.
Gel gun blasting is an excellent game to relieve stress. You can enjoy it for hours with your family and friends. With proper safety measures, this is an exceptionally safe game. The above-mentioned points will help you to hit the ground running so you can quickly learn how to play like a pro on the battlefield.
For the most part, Gel Blasters are legal in the USA. However, different states have different regulations. For some, you’re required to be a certain age or they can only be used in certain areas. Always verify the regulations in your area.
Gel Blasters can be relatively mess-free compared to other types of airsoft or paintball guns. These pellets break apart and turn into powder over time, making them biodegradable.
Gel Blasters can hurt if fired at close range with a high fire rate per section. They can also cause injury if you’re hit in the eye with one of the water beads. Make sure to wear eye protection and be cautious.
Yes, but it’s best to use them in a space where you can easily clean up any mess. Also, ensure that there is nothing breakable or hazardous in the indoor space. Always consider local noise ordinances and safety if playing inside an apartment.
Age restrictions can vary; many manufacturers recommend them for ages 14 and up, but local laws may specify different age limits. For example, in New York, you have to be 16 and up.
Some enthusiasts modify their gel blasters for improved performance, but this can affect legality and safety. Always check local regulations before making modifications since laws vary per state.
Gel balls are not that difficult to clean up after use. The balls dissolve in water, so simply sweeping or vacuuming the area can help with cleanup.
