The Secret World of Arrietty - DVD

"The Secret World of Arrietty" is the North American title of the movie known in Japan as "Arrietty the Borrower," Or simply Arrietty. This animated movie is an adaptation of the 1952 children's novel "The Borrowers," written by Mary Norton. The show is a Studio GIBLI creation, a studio known for its ability to create a visual fairytale. 

The story revolves around a family of tiny little people that live in the walls and floorboards of all houses belonging to regular humans. These tiny people call themselves Borrowers and they avoid at all costs being discovered by the humans, which they refer to as Beans. They borrow various items from humans to be able to survive. 

Arrietty is the only child of her parents, Pod and Homily. Thinking that Arrietty is ready for her first borrowing mission, her father, Pod, takes her along. They must return with a sugar cube and a piece of tissue. Unfortunately, things don't go according to plan and Arrietty gets seen.
