Philips, officially Koninklijke Philips N.V., is a Dutch company founded in Eindhoven in 1891 by Gerard and Frederik Philips. Initially focused on manufacturing carbon-filament light bulbs, the company rapidly expanded its expertise into various areas of technology, earning a reputation for innovation. Over its long history, Philips has played a pivotal role in the development of key technologies, such as the compact cassette, the compact disc (CD), and later, DVD and Blu-ray in collaboration with other companies.

In addition to its contributions to music and home entertainment, Philips made forays into gaming and multimedia with products like the Philips CD-i in the early 1990s. The CD-i (Compact Disc Interactive) was an ambitious attempt to blend gaming, education, and interactive media into one platform, offering a unique experience that bridged the gap between video games and home entertainment. While its commercial success was limited, the CD-i remains a notable part of Philips' legacy and a fascinating chapter in the history of interactive technology.

The Philips CD-i (Compact Disc Interactive) was a multimedia system introduced in 1991 that combined elements of a home video game console, media player, and educational tool. It was designed to play a variety of CD formats, including CD-i, audio CDs, CD+G, Karaoke CDs, and Video CDs. Powered by a Philips SCC68070 processor at 15.5 MHz, the CD-i offered resolutions ranging from 384×280 to 768×560 with support for 16.7 million colors. Its versatility extended to its sound capabilities, offering two-channel ADPCM audio. While marketed as an all-in-one entertainment device, the CD-i's primary appeal was its promise of interactive multimedia experiences, including games, educational content, and digital movies. The system gained attention for its "Digital Video Cartridge," which enabled playback of Video CDs with MPEG-1 encoding.

Philips released several models tailored for different audiences, from the consumer-oriented 200 and 400 series to the professional 300 and 600 series used in training and presentations. While its gaming capabilities were notable, the CD-i struggled to compete with traditional gaming consoles due to lackluster software, cumbersome controllers, and high prices. Despite early enthusiasm for its potential as an innovative multimedia platform, the CD-i's market impact was limited, and it was discontinued in 1998. Its legacy is remembered for its experimental approach to merging gaming, education, and entertainment during the early '90s.

product-benefitsSingle-player rail shooter gameplay with fixed flight paths and intense, non-stop action.

product-benefitsAnime-style full-motion video cutscenes that enhance the futuristic storyline and visual appeal.

product-benefitsNo power-ups or recharging, creating a challenging experience that demands skill and memorization.

If you need more help, send us an email at hello@poggers.com or call us at our warehouse (262-476-5047) on Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST and we'll help you out!

Poggers Frequently Asked Questions

We fulfill orders as quickly as possible when we're at the Poggers warehouse, Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST—usually within 24 hours of receiving your order. If you place an order over the weekend, it will be fulfilled that following Monday. We aim to hand the package to the shipping carrier within 24 hours, but depending on when the order was placed and how busy we are (we're a small family business, after all), it may take up to 48 hours to get it into the carrier's hands.

The time it takes for your order to arrive depends on the shipping method you choose and when we fulfill the order, as explained above. Carriers typically have a 24-hour handling time before your package enters their system and they start counting the shipping days.

For example, if you select a 3-day shipping method on Monday, the carrier will likely receive it on Tuesday and won't begin counting the 3-day shipping until Wednesday, meaning you should expect it to arrive by Friday, Saturday, or possibly even the following Monday, depending on whether that carrier operates on weekends (e.g., UPS usually does not deliver on weekends). Due to the variability in shipping times, we strongly suggest placing your order as soon as possible if it's time-sensitive.

We're located in a small town of around 2,000 people named “Belgium” in the state of Wisconsin, USA. And no, it's not the country of Belgium—it's a tiny town called “Belgium” that you probably haven't heard of. There's not much going on here, but we do have a nice gas station that recently opened, where we usually get our morning coffees!

Poggers is the best toy store in the world, of course! Well, we might be a little biased... (probably). We're a small, family-owned and operated business with just a handful of employees working out of a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse in the Midwest, USA. We sell all kinds of toys, games, collectibles, anime merchandise, and pretty much anything you’d want if you like having fun!

It's true that when you place an order, we make a couple of bucks, but instead of helping those super-rich shareholders of massive corporations get even richer, you can support us!

To be transparent, we're currently saving up to open our first brick-and-mortar location, so every order helps! We're trying to build a really cool and fun business, with (hopefully) a store that makes you say, “Wow, this place is cool!” when you walk in. The only way we can do that is with your support. So please help us out by clicking that “Add to Cart” button!

Love it!

★★★★★ Taber Long

Fits exactly as I was hoping! I've struggled to find a hat that has a theme I like while not having a massive dome that makes it look huge when worn. Quality is superb. Also love being able to support a small business that appreciates their customers!

What Other People Say About Poggers

One big wholesome nerdy family.

Just a very fast, friendly, group that feels like a classic family owned toy shop.
Every step of the way, they made sure my package was sent, tracking data and even wanted to make sure it arrived. Like a friend wanting to make sure your present arrived on time.
When it arrived, there were surprises as well, which wasn't necessary, but made me smile.
I ordered a card game, but friends of mine have ordered figurines and plush toys and have had also a great experience.
The fact this was placed during Thanksgiving and during a rough weather storm in Wisconsin was equally amazing!I
love this group and recommend it, even if it's $2-3 more compared to Amazon and other Retailers, this is such a caring retailer.
Give it a try, the service stands out!
