Along the way, she meets Max Gruber, one of her father's colleagues, who spontaneously offers his help to the attractive young woman. The trail leads Nina and Max to a mysterious disaster in the Tunguska region of Siberia in 1908, which Vladimir Kalenkow was investigating. Does Nina's father's disappearance have anything to do with his previous expeditions to Siberia? The search for an answer takes the two heroes from Berlin around the globe and to Antarctica, and it soon becomes clear that there are other people who are also interested in the secrets of Nina's father. After all, there is much more going on than just the disappearance of an old man.
