Hobbit Hole - 40 Bagshot Row - Red Door

From New Line Cinema, Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. comes J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, brought to the big screen in an epic trilogy. Weta Workshop was thrilled to return to Middle-earth once again, contributing design, specialty props and specialty costumes to all three films.

As diverse as the rosy-cheeked Hobbits themselves, every smial, as Hobbit-holes are known, reflects the unique personality of its inhabitant and nestles into the hillside amid a sea of lush greenery.

Crowned by the resplendent Bag End, Bagshot Row is dotted with a handful of more modest dwellings, bearing wreaths of flowers and painted door faces.

Neighbouring Bilbo Baggins on the left is the warm red door of number 40 Bagshot Row, a humble Hobbit-hole when compared to Bag End, modestly dressed with small white flowers and a stone slab porch.Well kept in true Hobbit fashion, it overlooks the Party Field and the Party Tree and is the second home in a series of collectible Hobbit Hole environmentsfrom the artists at Weta Workshop.
Each an individual dwelling, the Hobbit holes lend themselves splendidly to creative placement in your cabinet. With a flat back and shallow depth of only 2.16 inches (55mm), they can be placed on mantles, cornices, shelves and in windows.

This gorgeous little environment is anexacting miniature replica of the movie set that can be visited at Hobbiton in Matamata, New Zealand. Itwasdesigned by the same artists and craftspeople who worked on the movie.

40 Bagshot Row is an Open Edition piece. Please note: This miniature environment was designed and prototyped here at the Workshop. Images are of a pre-production prototype. Each piece is hand painted and slight variations will occur.

Scattered among the grassy hills of Hobbiton like a purse full of lost coins, the bright round doors of many dozen Hobbit-holes shine in bright, summery hues, each home to a Hobbit or family of the little people.

Because of the relationship we have with all the production parts of the process, we have access to everything from concept drawings to set plans, which is really handy when making things like the Hobbit Holes.

About The Hobbit

+

The Hobbit is a fantasy novel by J.R.R. Tolkien, first published in 1937. The story follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins, a seemingly ordinary hobbit, who is drawn into an epic quest with a group of dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield. Tasked with reclaiming their lost homeland and treasure from the fearsome dragon Smaug, Bilbo's adventure takes him through treacherous lands, encounters with magical beings, and personal growth. The novel is renowned for its engaging narrative, vibrant world-building, and the introduction of key elements that would later be expanded in Tolkien’s broader Middle-earth legendarium.

The story was adapted into a film trilogy by Peter Jackson, released between 2012 and 2014. The trilogy includes The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), which begins Bilbo's adventure and introduces the key characters and setting. This is followed by The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013), which continues the journey through dangerous lands and culminates in the confrontation with the dragon Smaug. The series concludes with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014), which depicts the climactic battle and the aftermath of the quest, connecting the story to the broader events of Middle-earth leading into The Lord of the Rings.
