In every anime, distinct concepts define its uniqueness—like One Piece's demon fruits, Bleach's Soul Pressure and Bankai, and Demon Slayer's Breathing Techniques. However, these techniques are far from ordinary or related to noses. Breathing Techniques empower Demon Slayers, enabling them to conquer formidable demons through focused respiration.
With names like Flame Breathing and Water Breathing, each technique encompasses various forms that amplify their abilities in combat. Here, we delve into Demon Slayer's breathing techniques, users, and their respective forms!
Sun Breathing (Hinokami Kagura)
This is a breathing technique that’s generic to the Kamado Family, as it’s only taught to and used by members of the family. It is also the first breathing technique, from which all other breathing techniques originated from.
The dance comprises a series of twelve segments that are iterated throughout the night until the break of dawn. According to Tanjuro, the use of a specific breathing technique in this dance enables the performer to sustain their movements for an indefinite period without experiencing exhaustion, thereby creating an illusion of perpetual dancing.
The Sun Breathing and Hinokami Kagura are two Breathing Styles that imitate the sun and reproduce its characteristics through the user's movements, techniques, and capabilities. The techniques and forms employed in combating demons exhibit a high degree of variability and lack a standardized structure, rendering them highly versatile and efficacious.
Owing to it being the source of all other breathing techniques, use of the Sun Breathing technique in conjunction with another technique has proven to give significant enhancement to a user’s overall power and speed, as often seen with Tanjiro.
Forms
-
Dance: The user executes a solitary downward vertical cut in a curved trajectory.
-
Dancing Flash: Tanjiro Kamado developed and implemented a modified form of Dance that is unique to his practice. He employs a combination of Thunderclap and Flash techniques in Thunder Breathing, along with a forceful slash from Dance. This is achieved by inhaling copious amounts of oxygen, which enhances blood circulation throughout the body, with a particular focus on the legs. The accumulated energy is then released in a powerful slash aimed at the target.
-
Clear Blue Sky: The user executes a rotational movement of their upper torso, ending in the delivery of a 360-degree slicing action.
-
Raging Sun: The user executes a defensive maneuver by performing two successive sweeping slashes in a circular motion around their own body, with the intention of intercepting and countering any incoming attacks.
-
Burning Bones, Summer Sun: The user executes a singular slashing action with a spiraling motion, projecting it forward as a means of safeguarding against impending frontal assaults.
-
Setting Sun Transformation: The user executes a backflip maneuver, followed by a singular horizontal strike intended to sever the head of the intended recipient.
-
Solar Heat Haze: The user advances rapidly, attempting to execute a strike that appears to be shrouded in a mirage of heat, obscuring the actual dimensions and placement of the weapon in order to administer an unforeseen attack.
-
Beneficent Radiance: The user executes an aerial maneuver, simultaneously executing a swirling upward slash aimed at the intended target.
-
Sunflower Thrust: The user executes a singular thrust using the sharp end of their blade against the opponent.
-
Sun Halo Dragon Head Dance: The user executes a series of successive slashes in a fluid motion to strike an opponent, while also demonstrating the ability to sever the heads of multiple targets.
-
Fire Wheel: The user executes an aerial maneuver by somersaulting over the opponent and subsequently delivers a solitary vertical strike in a circular pattern to swiftly bisect the intended subject (usually a demon).
-
Fake Rainbow: The user spins and turns quickly, making afterimages that are mostly used to avoid hits. The afterimages work best against enemies who can see well.
-
Flame Dance: A two-part attack that begins with a straight slash and then goes straight into a horizontal cut.
-
Thirteenth Form - Ju San no Kata: The user keeps doing all twelve types of Sun Breathing over and over again to improve its speed and accuracy when moving and attacking. This form was made only to kill Muzan Kibutsuji. The goal of doing all twelve forms over and over again is to eradicate Muzan's twelve important parts, which are his seven hearts and five brains.

Water Breathing
Water Breathing is a style of breathing that imitates the rhythm, mobility, and fluidity of water by using the user's moves, methods, and skills to do the same. Most, if not all, known methods involve someone bending their body, arm, and the weapon in an effortless manner to look like rushing or running water. When using its methods, users also see themselves as if they were making and controlling water.
One of Yoriichi Tsugikuni's students tried to learn Sun Breathing, but because they weren't as naturally talented as Yoriichi, they were taught and trained a different customized Breathing Style that centered around their weaknesses as well as their strengths, which became Water Breathing.
People say that it is the most popular Breathing Style in Demon Slayers because it is the easiest for newbies to learn, and also because it is the first breathing technique that the main character learns, and uses to fight demons.
Forms
Water Breathing technique originally has ten known forms. However, in a dire situation, Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira created an eleventh form. All the eleven forms are:
-
First Form - Water Surface Slash: The user executes a horizontal slash by generating momentum through crossing their arms.
-
Second Form - Water Wheel: The user jumps into the air and does a front flip, then sends out a single vertical slash in a circle.
-
Second Form - Improved Lateral Water Wheel: this is an upgrade to the original second form that Tanjiro created. It allows him create a water wheel that spins horizontally instead of up and down.
-
Third Form - Flowing Dance: The user moves their body and blade in a spiraling motion and steps in a flowing style, cutting everything in its way.
-
Fourth Form - Striking Tide: The person does a lot of slashes in a smooth way to make a lot of slashes at once.
-
Fourth Form - Striking Tide, Turbulent: this is an improved version of the fourth form. In order to hit a specific target in a confusing situation, Tanjiro increases the number of repeated hits and also makes the attacks more accurate.
-
Fifth Form - Blessed Rain After the Drought: this is the most merciful killing form in the entire technique. it involves changing the grip on a sword, and striking an opponent in a way that is devoid of pain.
-
Sixth Form - Whirlpool: The user bends their body and uses their sword to create a swirl of air that cuts through everything trapped in it.
-
Sixth Form - Whirlpool, Flow: This form was created when Tanjiro combined the third and sixth forms of the Water Breathing Technique. He uses Flowing Dance and Whirlpool to create a twisting, twirling, furious water flow around them to deflect weapons.
-
Seventh Form - Drop Ripple Thrust: This technique consists of a rapid succession of strikes that creates the illusion of a sword rain. This technique is useful for overwhelming foes with swift, accurate attacks.
-
Eighth Form - Waterfall Basin: this technique involves cutting down an opponent in a flowing manner, especially when the opponent’s altitude is dropping.
-
Ninth Form - Splashing Water Flow, Turbulent: this technique allows for more flight time for the user, especially in places where the user can find no solid support to stand on or use as base.
-
Tenth Form - Constant Flux: this involves using a continuous flow attack with an ever-increasing speed and strength.
-
Eleventh Form - Dead Calm: this technique was created by Giyu Tomioka. It allows him enter an imaginary empty world, where he is ultimately untouchable.

Flame Breathing
Flame Breathing is a breathing technique that imitates the characteristics of fire and channels it through the user's movements and abilities. Its forms are predominantly made up of powerful, single strikes that inflict burn-like injuries on the enemy, with most attacks originating from a high stance. Users of Flame Breathing visualize themselves producing and manipulating fire during their attacks.
The style was derived from one of Yoriichi Tsugikuni's students, who was unable to learn Sun Breathing due to the lack of innate power. Instead, they received personalized training that accentuated their unique strengths and weaknesses, which eventually developed into Flame Breathing.
Forms
The Flame Breathing Technique has a total of nine forms, out of which only six are known. These known forms are:
-
First Form - Unknowing Fire: The user sprints at the target before releasing a single horizontal slash aimed at the target's neck for a beheading.
-
Second Form - Rising Scorching Sun: The user performs an upwardly curving vertical slash, usually from a tail guard.
-
Third Form - Blazing Universe: This is an exact opposite of the first form, as the user strikes in a downwardly curving vertical slash, from a high position.
-
Fouth Form - Blooming Flame Undulation: The user defends himself from oncoming strikes by performing a single slash, or many slashes if necessary, in a smooth circular motion in order to decapitate numerous enemies at once.
-
Fifth Form - Flame Tiger: The user charges forward, raising the blade into a raised guard, and then executes a sequence of sword slashes that assume the appearance of a blazing tiger encircling the user in its grasp.
-
Ninth Form - Rengoku! (Esoteric Art): This form of Flame Breathing that is the most powerful, and was created by Kyojuro Rengoku himself. The user takes a lofty stance before conducting a sprint at the victim at an exceedingly high pace and delivering a single, lethal slash. This method is so effective that it may entirely chisel away at the landscape as it moves forward. This technique is shown as taking the appearance of a blazing Japanese dragon that envelops the user as they charge towards the victim in the movie and anime adaptations of the source material.

Thunder Breathing
Thunder Breathing resembles lightning's swift strikes and movements, replicating them through the user's techniques and skills. All techniques involve using blinding speed and fast attacks to quickly overpower the enemy. Thunder Breathing users visualize themselves conjuring and controlling lightning and electricity while executing its techniques.
Zenitsu Agatsuma noted that this Breathing Style emphasizes strengthening the legs and maximizing muscle and blood vessel output. Users can imitate lightning so accurately that they make the air vibrate and create thunder-like sounds with their footsteps. This Breathing Style resembles Iaijutsu, a renowned quick-draw sword technique used in real life.
Thunder Breathing was born when a student of Yoriichi Tsugikuni failed to master Sun Breathing due to their lack of innate power. Instead, they were taught a personalized breathing style that played to their strengths and weaknesses. Over time, this style evolved into Thunder Breathing.
Forms
-
First Form - Thunderclap and Flash: this is not only the most commonly used form of the Thunder Breathing Technique, but also believed to be the source of all other forms in the technique. The user pulls out their katana, runs forward at lightning speeds, and cuts off their opponent's head before they have time to respond. They then put the katana back in its sheath.
-
It actually has a few variations to it, which include;
-
Sixfold: Zenitsu developed an expansion of the Thunderclap and Flash method. He'd execute a series of six rapid Thunderclap and Flash maneuvers, while making slight enhancements to the velocity and potency of his dashes.
-
Eightfold: this is just like the sixfold variation of the Thunder and Clap form. But instead of six maneuvers, here, he executes eight rapid maneuvers, while adjusting the speed and accuracy of his dashes.
-
Godspeed: this is like a 3x version of his normal Thunderclap and Flash. But due to the strain he needs to exert on his muscles, he’s limited to only using it twice, otherwise, he would be too weak to move. However, by the time he encountered Muzan, he’d perfected it to the point that he could go above his limit, and use it more than twice.
All the other forms are simple modifications of the first form, and are therefore unknown to Zenitsu. However, they were all used and displayed by Kaigaku, a demon who was once Jigoro’s student. They include:
-
Second Form - Rice Spirit: Kaigaku executes a rapid sequence of five arched slashes that are accompanied by lightning.
-
Third Form - Thunder Swarm: Kaigaku employs a technique that involves enveloping his opponent with successive waves of curved electrical discharges, thereby launching a multi-directional assault.
-
Fourth Form - Distant Thunder: Kaigaku makes a sphere of electricity that sends waves of strong lightning bolts in many directions.
-
Fifth Form - Heat Lightning: Kaigaku executes a long-distance vertical sword strike, which is accompanied by an electrical discharge.
-
Sixth Form - Rumble and Flash: Kaigaku uses extended lightning attacks to hit his opponent from a distance.
-
Seventh Form - Flaming Thunder God: This is Zenitsu's own invention. He runs forward at a rapid pace, unleashing a single forward slash from a low stance, followed by a yellow dragon looking like a lightning bolt.

Stone Breathing
The Stone Breathing technique is a form of Breathing Style that emulates the qualities of earth and stone, and incorporates them into the user's actions, techniques, and skills. This breathing technique came to be when one of Yoriichi’s students found it hard to master Sun Breathing, so had to settle for another technique more suited to his strengths, and created a style later to be called Stone Breathing.
It can be inferred from the sole user in the series, Gyomei Himejima, that Stone Breathing is exclusive to the utilization of a flail and/or axe. In Kokushibo's flashback, the originator of Stone Breathing is depicted wielding a large weapon resembling a Kusarigama.
Forms
The Stone Breathing technique has a total of five known forms. These are:
-
First Form: Serpentinite Bipolar: The user hurls both the flail and axe at the target and skillfully maneuvers the chain by rotating it, resulting in the simultaneous rotation of the axe and flail. This technique effectively pierces and grinds through the intended target.
-
Second Form: Upper Smash: User executes a pincer move by throwing both their axe and spiked flail, followed by a forceful strike on the chain to propel the flail towards the target and strike them from a distance.
-
Third Form: Stone Skin: User executes a sequence of swift and forceful strikes with their axe, successfully warding off any incoming assaults in close range.
-
Fourth Form: Volcanic Rock, Rapid Conquest: The user employs a dual-wielding technique using the flail and axe affixed to both ends of a chain. This form involves swinging the chain on both ends in order to execute a two-pronged, wide-ranging attack against opponents.
-
Fifth Form: Arcs of Justice: The user effectively uses a forceful combination of flail and axe strikes, resulting in significant damage to the target. The axe is designed to make initial contact, while the flail's trajectory follows from the opposing side and delivers a forceful impact to the opponent.

Wind Breathing
Wind Breathing mimics powerful torrents of wind and whirlwinds, allowing users to replicate them with its motions and techniques. Most techniques involve only offensive moves, using rotation for longer range or air for sharp attacks. Wind Breathing users imagine controlling and shaping wind while using its techniques.
This Breathing Style echoes Jigen-ryū swordsmanship, which prioritizes the initial strike and elevated postures. This breathing technique was evolved out of one of Yoriichi Tsugukuni’s student’s inability to master Sun Breathing.
Forms
Wind Breathing Technique has a total of nine forms, which are:
-
First Form - Dust Whirlwind Cutter: The user runs forward at rapid speeds and keeps slashing in a cyclone-like pattern.
-
Second Form - Claws-Purifying Wind: The user pulls the sword up and to the right, above their head, and then swings it down at the enemy with four linear slashes at once, making it look like claws.
-
Third Form - Clean Storm Wind Tree: The user sends out a tornado of slashes that can protect them from strikes and cut up the area around them.
-
Fourth Form - Rising Dust Storm: The user sends out a number of strikes above the intended victim from below them.
-
Fifth Form - Cold Mountain Wind: User makes a series of circular, arched cuts that get bigger as they move toward their target from above them.
-
Sixth Form - Black Wind Mountain Mist: The user turns around in an uppercut motion to make a slash that twists.
-
Seventh Form - Gale, Sudden Gusts: The user jumps into the air and swings their sword, making powerful winds that tear apart their foe.
-
Eighth Form - Primary Gale Slash: The user jumps into space and swings their blade, making circular streams of wind that cut through the opponent immediately.
-
Ninth Form - Idaten Typhoon: The user jumps, does a backflip and, while in the inverted position, releases a strong circular wind gust that shatters anything below.

Beast Breathing
The Beast Breathing Style is a technique that imitates the behavior of wild animals, such as their unpredictable and ferocious nature, movements, attacks, and senses. This allows the user to replicate these traits through their own movements, techniques, and abilities.
The techniques and forms that are known are generally characterized by their simplicity and directness, as well as their wild and unpredictable nature. They often involve animalistic actions and attacks, with one technique in particular utilizing the sense of touch to imitate an animal's primal senses. When utilizing the techniques of Beast Breathing, users typically visualize themselves embodying the characteristics of a wild animal, such as fangs and claw slashes.
The Breathing Style utilized by Inosuke Hashibira is a product of his personal creation and self-teaching, which he developed while living in the mountains and fighting for survival. It can be inferred that this particular Breathing Style requires the use of dual Nichirin katanas and an exceptional sense of touch in order to be effectively utilized.
Forms
Unlike other breathing techniques that have forms, the actual techniques of beast breathing are known as fangs, and are as follows:
-
First Fang - Pierce: Inosuke uses his two swords to stab his opponent’s neck.
-
Second Fang - Slice: this involves Inosuke crossing both swords and slashing at an opponent.
-
Third Fang - Devour: Inosuke sends forth horizontal slashes at his opponent’s throat at the same time to cut off their head.
-
Fourth Fang - Slice ‘n’ Dice: With both swords, Inosuke does a series of vertical double-slashes.
-
Fifth Fang - Crazy Cutting: As the name implies, Inosuke cuts at everything around him while in the air.
-
Sixth Fang - Palisade Bite: In a saw-like motion, Inosuke swings two swords at the same time in either direction.
-
Seventh Fang - Spatial Awareness: This is more like an ability that Inosuke has, especially as he doesn’t need his swords to use this. His spatial awareness is his ability to pinpoint the exact location of people, often demons, in any direction, anywhere around him, irrespective of the distance, using slight disturbance in air particles.
-
Eighth Fang - Explosive Rush: this is Inosuke’s blind man attack. It involves him surging at an opponent with a barrage of slashes, without a care for how the opponent responds or attacks.
-
Ninth Fang - Extending Bendy Slash: This form is often brought to life when Inosuke breaks the joints in his arms in order to extend the range of his fast struck forward strike.
-
Tenth Fang - Whirling Fangs: Inosuke quickly spins his swords around in a circle, which deflects enemy strikes or projectiles.
-
Eleventh Fang - Sudden Throwing Strike: Inosuke spins both blades around and throws them at an enemy.

Flower Breathing
Flower Breathing is an exquisite and graceful breathing technique that takes inspiration from the movements and characteristics of flowers and fruits. The user replicates the essence of flowers in their skills, footwork, and forms, creating an unparalleled blend of beauty and power. This unique breathing style prioritizes agility in its attacks, making it a formidable technique in combat.
However, it also comes at a cost as it can put a strain on the user's eyesight, making it a double-edged sword. Flower Breathing allows its users to envision themselves as masterful florists, creating and manipulating flowers in the midst of battle, adding an additional layer of finesse to their attacks.
Forms
It is a breathing technique that’s complete with 7 different forms, out of which only 5 are known. The known 5 forms are:
-
Second Form - Honourable Shadow Plum: The user unleashes a series of whirling sword slashes that protects them from any oncoming physical attacks.
-
Fourth Form - Crimson Hanagoromo: The user performs a single sword stroke that beautifully bends and twists as it cuts through the air.
-
Fifth Form - Peonies of Futility: The user launches a barrage of nine successive assaults that flow into one another and weave in and out of itself.
-
Sixth Form - Whirling Peach: The user spins around and moves with their body weight in order to perform an attack. This method may be utilized either after or during an evasion.
-
Final Form - Equinoctial Vermilion Eye: A method of concentration that accelerates the user's kinetic vision to its full potential; while employing this method, the user has the sensation that the world around them is moving at a glacial pace. The usage of the form, on the other hand, is extremely risky since the extreme pressure that is placed on the eyes has the potential to cause blood vessels to burst, which might result in either entire or partial loss of vision. Regardless of whether the user only has one eye that can see normally, they can still use this form successfully.

Insect Breathing
Insect Breathing simulates insects' harmful stings and motions with the user's movements, tactics, and powers. Most tactics include stinging, thrusting, and making small incisions with a specially coated sword to cause several wounds on the target and to administer fatal wisteria poisons. Insect Breathing users envision themselves as butterflies while using its methods.
Shinobu Kocho created this Breathing Style to overcome her lack of strength to kill a demon. Thus, only she may use this sword technique with a needle-like katana that resembles an insect's stinger. The "stinger" injects Wisteria toxin into demons.
Forms
The Insect Breathing technique has a total of 4 known techniques, and these are:
-
Butterfly Dance - Caprice: whoever uses this form could deliver a hoard of poisonous hits very quickly to an opponent, so much so the attack seems like just one strike.
-
Dance of the Bee Sting - True Flutter: the user runs at an almost-impossible-to-see speed and with that momentum, thrusts a poisoned katana into their opponent.
-
Dance of the Dragonfly - Compound Eye Hexagon: the user uses six very quick successive strikes to deliver a large amount of poison into an opponent’s weak spots.
-
Dance of the Centipede - Hundred-Legged Zigzg: using this form, the user can run in a zigzag manner, often in a bid to disorient their opponent, and in a split second, aim for and stab their opponent in the neck. This form is remarkable for its speed, as the impact of its speed has devastating effects.

Love Breathing
This is an emotionally-based Breathing Style centered on affection. This style's techniques comprise primarily of whip-like attacks at mid- to long-range that utilize the user's own dexterity, speed, agility and flexibility to deliver swift and forceful strikes to the opponent. Mitsuri Kanroji modified the Flame Breathing technique she learned from Kyojuro Rengoku to create her own distinctive Breathing Style.
Utilizing her distinct muscle density, this technique grants her remarkable strength without adding physical bulk. It is a unique manner that only Mitsuri can employ. In addition, it is most effective when used with a katana resembling a whip, although a standard katana can also be used.
Forms
The Love Breathing Technique has a total of six forms, but only five are known. These are:
-
First Form - Shivers of First Love: The user sprints forward, slashing the opponent with a chain of extended whip cuts.
-
Second Form - Love Pangs: The user performs a series of forceful whip cuts around themselves.
-
Third Form - Catlove Shower: The user performs a swift jump and proceeds to execute a rapid sequence of ranged, curved strikes.
-
Fifth Form - Swaying Love, Wildclaw: The user does a backflip in the air while launching a series of strikes that resemble a lengthy whip.
-
Sixth Form - Cat-Legged Wings of Love: Within a very little period of time, the user spins upside-down and produces several extending cutting assaults before retracting and re-extending it.

Sound Breathing
The Sound Breathing technique emulates the characteristics of sound, particularly its overwhelming volume, through the utilization of the user's techniques, movements, and abilities.
The majority, if not all, of the established methods and styles incorporate the use of explosives to inflict significant harm, while simultaneously employing rapid movements akin to the speed of sound and the practitioner's auditory perception.
Tengen Uzui, the sole identified user, employs a skill that leverages his extraordinary auditory acuity, known as Musical Score. This technique entails Tengen scrutinizing his opponent’s actions and breaking them down into auditory components by assessing the cadence of their movements.
By doing so, he can effectively capitalize on their vulnerabilities by executing strikes in a rhythmic manner, akin to the tempo of a musical composition. Moreover, he employs diminutive yet potent anti-demon explosives that possess the ability to inflict harm upon the physical forms of Upper Rank demons.
Sound Breathing was originated by Tengen and is exclusively compatible with a particular armament consisting of two massive Nichirin Cleavers that resemble nunchucks. These cleavers feature a notch on the sharp edge of their blades and are joined together by a metallic chain at the hilt.
Forms
The Sound Breathing Technique has a total of three known forms, which include:
-
First Form - Roar: The user raises their two swords over their head and strikes them down hard, making a loud noise that sounds like thunder.
-
Fourth Form - Constant Resounding Slashes: The user spreads out their twin swords and quickly spins them around themselves. This makes the blades destroy anything they touch and gives the user strong defense around them.
-
Fifth Form - String Performance: The user clutches the chain that connects their two swords and spins the blades quickly as they move forward. Because the blades spin without changing grip, you can keep cutting while still moving.

Serpent Breathing
Serpent Breathing is a style that imitates the movements of snakes and incorporates them into the user's techniques and abilities. Looks like swordplay is all about being sneaky like a snake! The moves involve lots of twisting and bending, and the attacks are tricky and unpredictable.
As this technique is quite synonymous to the qualities of a snake, the user’s accompanying sword also is usually modeled accordingly, and made to resemble the Indonesian Kris Sword.
Forms
The Serpent Breathing technique has a total of five known forms, all of which are:
-
First Form - Winding Serpent Slash: the user literally copies a moving snake, and while moving, strike their opponent with winding strikes.
-
Second Form - Venom Fangs of the Narrow Head: Obanai often uses this to “disappear” behind his opponent and strike them.
-
Third Form - Coil Choke: the user traps their opponent by running all around them at alarming speeds, while harming them also.
-
Fourth Form - Twin-Headed Reptile: The user launches himself forward and executes a straight slash that dissects the opponent.
-
Fifth Form - Slithering Serpent: this form is especially effective in beheading multiple enemies at the same time. The user tweaks the sword in different directions, making it hit all obstacles in the various paths.
Users
-
Obanai Iguro
Mist Breathing
The Mist Breathing technique is a form of breathing that imitates the characteristics of mist, particularly its ability to obscure visibility. This technique is executed through the user's actions, techniques, and skills.
The majority, if not all, established techniques and forms incorporate rapid strikes and movements executed in a distinctive sequence that blurs the opponent's vision and environment, akin to a mist shrouding the battlefield. Users of Mist Breathing employ visualization techniques to effectively execute the techniques, envisioning themselves creating and manipulating mist.
It can be inferred from the sole known practitioner of Mist Breathing, Muichiro Tokito, that concealing one's limbs from the opponent is a crucial aspect of fully harnessing the capabilities of this particular Breathing Style. This necessitates the use of loose-fitting garments that hide the movements of the limbs.
Forms
-
First Form - Low Clouds, Distant Haze: the user uses this to perform an outward powerful thrust.
-
Second Form - Eight-Layered Mist: The user executes a rapid succession of eight slashes, each precisely aligned atop the other.
-
Third Form - Scattering Mist Splash: user executes a forceful circular slash to their front, which can effectively deflect incoming projectiles or attacks.
-
Fourth Form - Shifting Flow Slash: User swiftly draws their sword and charges towards the opponent with remarkable speed, executing a swift strike from below. This technique bears resemblance to the martial art of Iaijutsu.
-
Fifth Form - Sea of Clouds and Haze: The user rapidly advances and executes a series of swift strikes that cover a broad range, simultaneously concealing their actions.
-
Sixth Form - Lunar Dispersing Mist: User executes an aerial backflip while inverted and proceeds to unleash a multitude of ranged slashes in a downward direction, often capable of annihilating numerous targets simultaneously.
-
Seventh Form - Obscuring Clouds: This is the only form that was created by Muichiro. He uses a strategic approach by altering his movement rhythm to disorient his opponent. This technique is characterized by the formation of mist clouds that cover a wide region. When he becomes visible, his movement appears to be significantly reduced, whereas whenever his opponent loses sight of him, he literally disappears.

Moon Breathing
This Breathing Style takes after the crescent moon, copying its shape and incorporating it into the user's moves and abilities. Swift and powerful strikes that blend offense and defense are the name of the game when it comes to these tried-and-true techniques.
Moon Breathing, just like the other Breathing Styles, owes its origin to Sun Breathing. Its evolution came to be after Michikatsu Tsugukuni resolved that he couldn’t learn Sun Breathing from his twin brother, and resolved to create a style unique to him, the Moon Breathing Technique!
Forms
Since he is the creator and sole user of the Moon Breathing technique, and that he’s also had centuries to hone his craft, Kokushibo created all the sixteen forms of this technique. these are:
-
First Form - Dark Moon, Evening Palace: With a single straight slash, the user creates a hoard of crescent slashes directed towards an opponent.
-
Second Form - Pearl Flower Moongazing: this form has about the same effect as the first form, but is borne out of the user making three crescent-like slashes.
-
Third Form - Loathsome Moon, Chains: Kokushibo uses this form to dish out two big crescent-shaped slashes that unleash a whole bunch of shorter crescent moon blades.
-
Fifth Form - Moon Spirit Calamitous Eddy: without swinging his katana, Kokushibo uses this form to whip up a whole whirlwind of crescent moon blades.
-
Sixth Form - Perpetual Light, Lonely Moon – Incessant: Kokushibo executes a series of curved slashes in quick succession, generating numerous crescent-shaped blades that scatter in all directions and can cut through everything around them.
-
Seventh Form - Mirror of Misfortune, Moonlit: Kokushibo conducts an upfront crescent-shaped slash with his modified katana, resulting in the release of multiple slashes that evolve as they move further from him.
-
Eighth Form - Moon-Dragon Ringtail: Kokushibo executes a long-range, curved slash with his modified katana, resulting in the creation of numerous crescent-shaped blades along its course.
-
Ninth Form - Waning Moonswaths: this is very similar to the eighth form, except that Kokushibo has to use multiple slashes to provide the same effect.
-
Tenth Form - Drilling Slashes, Moon Through Bamboo Leaves: Kokushibo uses his modified katana to produce three circular slashes that rotate and resemble saws. These slashes are accompanied by crescent moon blades that follow the path of his slashes.
-
Fourteenth Form - Catastrophe, Tenman Crescent Moon: Kokushibo wields his modified katana to create a vortex of spiral moon blades that expand in all directions.
-
Sixteenth Form - Moonbow, Half Moon: Kokushibo uses his modified katana to unleash six powerful curved slashes, all of which creates craters in their path.
