We're a small business in Wisconsin!
Like Tsunade in Naruto or Lee Joohee, the B-Rank healer from Solo Leveling, Shoko Ieiri is one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most iconic characters. She’s definitely worth talking about thanks to her contribution to the general well-being of the characters. Without her, most of our main cast would probably be dead. While she might not have been the focus at any point, her actions and contributions make her one of the most important characters in the show.

Shoko Ieiri is a female supporting character from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime series. She is a former student at Tokyo Jujutsu High, where she was classmates with Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo. Upon completing her studies in jujutsu sorcery, Shoko assumed the role of the school's main physician.

When Shoko was a student at the Tokyo Jujutsu High School, she had a chic short hairstyle that gracefully framed her face, with stylish bangs elegantly set to the left. She wore the standard jacket-style uniform like other Jujutsu High students and she often sported sandals, a long-sleeved blouse, and shorts as summertime wear.
Years later, when she’d started working as a doctor, Shoko had gained a remarkable sense of elegance, with her tall stature and flowing brown hair that gracefully cascades down her shoulders. She occasionally pulls her hair into a ponytail, adding a touch of practicality to her creative and versatile style. Her eyes are a gentle shade of brown, with heavy brown eyebrows, and there are faint lines beneath her eyes that give her a slightly worn-out look. There is a mole beneath her right eye.
Lastly, she typically wears a neat white lab coat paired with a stylish blue turtleneck sweater and sleek navy blue pants that fall just above her ankles and wears a pair of high heels with ivory tint on her feet.

Nothing is known of Shoko Ieiri’s childhood or background, but in 2006, she was a second-year student alongside Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto at Tokyo Jujustsu High. While the duo were troublemakers with Satoru being the more playful one, Shoko Ieiri maintained a neutral friendship with both of them and always stayed out of their arguments and discussions.
Playing her part as Satoru’s friend, she often helped him test his new techniques and showed a minimal amount of care. After Suguru Geto went rogue and was given the death sentence, she was seen calmly discussing with him why he changed paths and helped inform Satoru of his location.

Shoko is a carefree and easygoing individual and doesn’t view herself as important as those at Jujutsu High view her to be, but maintains a remarkably stoic attitude. She takes her position as the school medic very seriously. She is very confident in her abilities and knowledge.
In general, Shoko doesn’t seem to take anything other than medicine all too seriously, even when she was in Jujutsu High School. Despite clearly being a high school student, she would brazenly smoke in public and this had become a habit by the time she became an adult (even though she stopped it for some time).

Shoko’s relationships in Jujutsu Kaisen fall perfectly on the line between nuanced and simple and serve to reflect much about her personality. Although she might not be the focus of any episode or chapter, how she interacts with other characters helps us understand how much she respects them and vice versa.
Shoko and Satoru Gojo have a well-established rapport based on mutual respect. They went to Jujutsu High together, and their friendly banter—which is frequently laced with humor and sarcasm —emphasizes their mutual respect. She is one of the few characters who can speak to him honestly while still calling out to him for help without hesitation.
Before and after Suguru went rogue, Shoko and Suguru's interactions are incredibly impartial and reasonable. Despite being regarded as a criminal, she confronts him about his deeds without fear, for she never got close to him as Satoru did.
Shoko easily sits on the fence on matters concerning students and the Jujutsu administrative division, especially on the politics in Jujutsu High. Although she mostly interacts with others in a professional manner, there is an underlying layer of compassion and concern, particularly evident when she deals with the aftermath of battles and injuries.

As the Jujutsu community’s only medical practitioner and a user of the reverse cursed technique, her abilities and skill have always helped preserve the lives of several Jujutsu Sorcerers. She is always the one to tend to the wounded sorcerers. She can help others understand various strange phenomena that they encounter from a medical standpoint.
It is evident from the bags under her eyes that she’s always very busy and stressed. This is fully on display during the Shibuya incident on October 31st, where she set up a safe spot where she could treat the wounded Jujutsu Sorcerers and members of staff.
Sometimes her actions have shown how indifferent she is to the leadership politics in Jujutsu High. She values her friendships, as shown in how easily she agreed with Satoru Gojo not to report that Yuji has just been revived. Shortly afterward, after she’d examined the corpses of the transfigured humans that Nanami and Yuji fought in the Vs. Mahito Arc, she figured out Mahito’s ability to transform humans.
Spoiler Alert - Major plot spoilers for the Culling Game and Shinjuku Showdown Arcs!!

Following the occurrences of Shibuya, Shoko provides Maki and Ijichi with a concise explanation of the Cursed technique in anticipation of the Culling game. Later, she and Yuta Okkotsu treat Hana Kurusu's wounds so that Hana can try to remove Satoru from inside the Prison Realm. She then informs Gojo of the demise of Kento Nanami and briefs him on the little details he should know. Shoko, along with the other educators, observe with a grin as Gojo readies himself to engage in combat with Sukuna.
During Satoru Gojo’s battle against Ryomen Sukuna, she and other Jujutsu sorcerers watched the fight from behind a monitor. She became worried after she noticed that the output of Satoru Gojo’s strength and cursed technique was decreasing. A short while later, they watched as Sukuna kills Satoru Gojo and Ui Ui quickly teleports to bring Satoru’s body to them.

Even though Shoko was never a combat-oriented sorcerer, she went on assignments with Satoru and Suguru throughout her student training, which indicates that she had some level of combat prowess.
Shoko’s medical skills and knowledge in biology make her a great asset for Jujutsu High, as she’s used it to the best of her abilities to save the lives of Jujutsu sorcerers. Not only that, she also performs autopsies on the bodies of cursed spirits or other beings that the Jujutsu Sorcerers encounter in battle, helping the Jujutsu society to learn the anatomy and abilities of those they battle.
This is a unique technique that transforms negative cursed energy into a potent form of positive energy. Hanten Jutsushiki allows Shoko the ability to use that positive energy to treat herself and other injured Jujutsu sorcerers. While many can use Reverse Cursed Technique to heal themselves, Shoko is one of the few people who can harness and transfer that positive energy, making her a great asset to the entire Jujutsu community.

In lieu of a proper conclusion, here are some fun facts we learned about Shoko through our research, but couldn’t find a way to add them to the article.
Unlike others at Jujutsu High with cursed techniques, Shoko Ieiri has no cursed technique. However, her reverse cursed technique is an ability that very few characters possess. And even amongst the few that have it, she’s the only one (aside from Gojo) who can transfer it.
Shoko Ieiri’s technique is known as Hanten Jujtsushiki, which translates to Reverse Cursed Technique.
While even Shoko Ieiri cannot explain how her technique works, a simple explanation would be that it allows her to convert cursed energy into positive energy. This positive energy could be used to heal herself, or transferred to others and used to heal them.
Shoko is the doctor for not only Jujutsu High but for most of Japan's Jujutsu sorcerers. She also helps others through autopsies of cursed creatures and humans.
Shoko attended Jujutsu High in 2006 with Saturo Gojo and Suguru Geto. She was friends with both of them and met with Geto after he left Jujutsu High.
Shoko agreed to help Gojo in hiding Yuji. She didn't tell anyone that Yuji had been resurrected and helped teach Yuji during that time.
During the Culling Game Arc, Hana Kurusu removes the binding on Gojo's Prison. Shoko, being a friend from school was there as well to debrief Gojo on what has happened while he was locked away.
