Just like the cursed spirits and curse users, not all sorcerers are created equal in Jujutsu Kaisen. While some barely survive exorcising minor curses, others redefine what it means to be powerful. In this world, power isn't just measured in cursed energy. It is shaped by resolve, intellect, technique, and grit. Among all the Jujutsu sorcerers that abound, some have carved their names into the core of Jujutsu history.

While the series has its fair share of strong heroes, let’s have a look at the creme de la creme that Jujutsu Kaisen offered.

15. Takuma Ino

Takuma Ino isn’t the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer that you’d come across, but he totally deserves a spot among the top 15 in the series. Just like Megumi, Takuma has a squad of mythical beasts on speed dial and likes showing off his skills, especially in front of Nanami. However, in Shibuya, he stepped up, standing toe-to-toe with heavy hitters like Mahito’s transfigured humans. While he’s not top-tier when it comes to skills, his Nanami-inspired grit and grade 1 sorcerer-level skill show he’s not a slouch.

14. Masamichi Yaga

While there’s not much evidence to attest to his strength, Masamichi Yaga is a grade 1 Jujutsu sorcerer. This suggests that he possesses significant cursed energy levels and control, plus excellent martial arts skills and physical abilities. His cursed technique, however, is what makes him truly formidable.

Aside from being the principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yaga is also the pioneer of cursed corpse makers, so much so that his ability to make sentient puppets was seen as a threat by the higher-ups at Jujutsu High. After he made Panda, they considered promoting him to a special grade sorcerer and indefinitely restricting him from making any more puppets. They then started pressuring him to either pass on his knowledge of creating sentient cursed corpses or be executed, the latter being the result after the Shibuya incident. 

13. Kokichi Muta | Mechamaru

Kokichi is easily one of the smartest characters in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime and manga series and one of its strongest and most gifted. While he’s a shut-in, due to his Heavenly Restriction that gave him a half body in place of vast amounts of cursed energy, it also imbued him with the ability to create and manipulate cursed mechanical puppets like Mechamaru and Ultimate Mechamaru from long distances.

While his physical condition made him unfit for combat, he used his puppets to display skills that earned him the status of a semi-grade 1 sorcerer—using techniques like Ultra Spin, Boost On, Mode: Albatross, Sword Option, etc. However, the peak of his creations is Ultimate Mechamaru, the robot he used to fight Mahito, a fight wherein he only lost because he got trapped in Mahito’s whims.

12. Atsuya Kusakabe

After he paired with Panda, he may have lazed around a bit, but Kusakabe is truly a force to be reckoned with, and here’s why he stands out as one of the strongest. He uses the New Shadow Style with incredible skill, cutting through curses effortlessly, better than other users of the same technique. In Shinjuku, he stopped Sukuna’s world-cutting slash, a feat that’s impossible for most other sorcerers, showing just how incredibly strong he is. 

Kusakabe has exceptional control over his cursed energy, and even without an innate technique, he’s still ranked as the strongest grade 1 sorcerer (excluding members of the Three Big Clans). His ability to survive a fight against the King of Curses alone is enough evidence of his skill and intelligence. He’s just another underrated powerhouse. 

11. Maki Zen’in

Family politics may have kept her at grade 4, but Mai Zen’in’s elder sister, Maki, is as strong as any other grade 1 sorcerer. Her strength lies in her combination of superhuman physicality, mastery of cursed tools, and unyielding willpower. Unlike conventional sorcerers who rely on cursed techniques and have vast amounts of cursed energy, Maki’s Heavenly Restriction transforms her into a physical juggernaut capable of confronting the most powerful curses and sorcerers, even Sukuna, despite having zero cursed energy.

Her exploits, such as wiping out the Zen’in Clan, surviving the fights and turmoil of Shinjuku, and matching Toji, make her among the series’ strongest characters. Unlike what her family thinks, her lack of cursed energy is not a weakness but her greatest weapon, making her unpredictable and powerful.

10. Megumi Fushiguro

Jujutsu Kaisen’s deuteragonist may be a grade 2 sorcerer, but his skills and abilities far transcend his level. Megumi, who inherited the Zeni’in Clan’s powerful Ten Shadow Technique, has been praised as a genius and child prodigy by both friends and foes. Even Satoru Gojo stated that Megumi has the potential to surpass the majority of sorcerers in Jujutsu High, including Yuji, before he got on Sukuna’s radar and became a person of interest to the King of Curses.

His calm, tactical mindset is also one of his greatest weapons, as it allows him to handle high-stakes missions with little or no guidance, and also figure out the mechanics of any person’s technique. Megumi is one of the few users of his inherited technique throughout history who has shown an impressive and dangerous potential by dominating multiple Shikigami very early in his career.

9. Mei Mei

Maybe not so compelling, but Mei Mei is one of the most interesting characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. As a grade 1 sorcerer, she is driven by her desire for money, but her power is truly impressive. As a mercenary, she is morally complex and unpredictable, as her services go to the first/highest bidder, and she’s never one to get involved in anything devoid of monetary gain.

During the Night Parade of a Thousand Demons, Mei Mei charged Jujutsu High based on the number of enemies she killed and their grade, just as she does on every mission she gets called for. While she literally bolted to Malaysia right after her fight against the special grade Smallpox Deity during the Shibuya Incident, and still looked to protect her assets, she’s undoubtedly one of the strongest characters in the series.

8. Aoi Todo

Todo’s personality as a combat-crazed meathead only confirms the suspicion that his muscular, bulky appearance gives. By pure strength and skills alone, Todo is undoubtedly the strongest Jujutsu High student, and he’s not one to follow orders, as he only ever does whatever he wants.

While Todo’s Boogie Woogie might be one of the simplest techniques owned and used by any sorcerer in the series, combined with his tactical intellect and expert martial arts skills, it is usually used to lethal effect. Plus, his experience and profound understanding of cursed energy, its flow, and manipulation supersede that of most other students, making him a cut above the rest.

7. Nanami Kento

When facing other sorcerers, Haruta Shigemo’s cursed technique, Miracles, always removes one stroke of luck per fatal attack that’s dealt on him. Still, ironically, Nanami’s final punch against him eliminated a whopping three strokes from his luck, leaving him nearly dead. Before Yuji's battle with Hanami, Nanami held the record for the highest number of consecutive Black Flash uses, using it four times in succession.

The 7:3 sorcerer, as Nanami is often referred to, is one of the strongest sorcerers that Mahito ever fought against, even evolving during their fights. Also, he proved his strength during the Shibuya incident by eliminating numerous transfigured humans and cursed spirits; he fought against special grade cursed spirits like Dagon and got burned by Jogo, before Mahito finished him off. 

6. Naobito Zen’in

Naobito Zen’in, the former leader of the Zen’in clan, was a special grade 1 powerful sorcerer and a Jujutsu powerhouse. Renowned as the fastest sorcerer after Satoru Gojo, his Projection Sorcery - splitting a second into 24 frames for precise movement – combined with exceptional martial skills and keen battle intelligence, makes him a lethal force, despite that he often prefers lazing around and drinking. 

In Shibuya, Naobito skillfully overpowered the special-grade curse Dagon, surpassing its immense cursed energy through a combination of speed and tactical expertise. He rescued Maki from deadly attacks and created openings for Nanami, keeping Dagon in check until it evolved. Despite being severely injured, Naobito maintains his speed and agility to outmaneuver his opponents. Although he lacks a domain expansion of his own, he can counter domains using Falling Blossom Emotion.

5. Yuki Tsukumo

Yuki Tsukumo stands out among Jujutsu sorcerers for being unpredictable, formidable, and fiercely independent. Her status as one of only four special grade sorcerers speaks volumes about her strength, yet the Jujutsu Headquarters remains largely unaware of her techniques. She possesses exceptional combat instincts, skillfully employing barrier techniques, domain expansion, and a distinctive cursed technique that challenges the norm.

While she avoids conventional roles like accepting missions or teaching, she is more than capable of mentoring emerging talents such as Aoi Todo when it is most essential. When standing against powerful opponents or when supporting her comrades during pivotal moments, she'd always prove her special grade abilities. Yuki encompasses an enigmatic power of nature, for she is wild, unmatched, and unforgettable in the world of jujutsu.

4. Yuji Itadori

By Jujutsu Kaisen’s finale, Yuji Itadori has become a beast, easily ranking among the top 5 strongest sorcerers. His crazy strength comes from his god-tier physical abilities, allowing him to use powerful techniques like Black Flash like it's nothing, and using Sukuna’s ingrained Shrine to cut through opponents and obstacles. 

Throughout the course of the series, he clowned Mahito, tanked Sukuna’s deadly domain, and learned to use special attacks to deal deathly blows not only to the physique but also to the souls of his opponents. His grind from an underdog to a position of elite sorcerer makes him a straight-up legend in the Jujutsu world. This places him neck-and-neck with special grade sorcerer Yuta, for his slick reverse cursed technique, beefy cursed energy, peak physical abilities, and a never-give-up vibe are sure to keep him going.

3. Suguru Geto

All four special grade sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen were seen as possible threats, but Suguru Geto is the only one who confirmed the fears of the higher-ups at Jujutsu High. Geto alone had a collection of over 6,000 curses in his arsenal, all of varying grades. Even while he was a student alongside Gojo Satoru, he was feared, as the duo were the major strength of the Jujutsu community.

Unlike the majority of sorcerers using the Jurei Sojutsu technique, Geto is also well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. The highlight of his life, schemes, and abilities was evidenced during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, where he kept the entire Jujutsu community busy with fighting thousands of demons, just so he’d be able to exorcise and add Rika to his arsenal.

2. Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta Okkotsu is an imposing presence in Jujutsu Kaisen, merging a multifaceted character with astonishing strength. In the beginning, Yuta was a shy teenager haunted by Rika, a vengeful cursed spirit in love with him, but he transforms into a resolute special-grade sorcerer as his story unfolds. With Kopi, his innate technique, Yuta copied and used the cursed techniques of some other characters like Charles Bernard, Sukuna, Kenjaku, Satoru Gojo, Angel, Takako, and Toge Inumaki.

Combined with Rika’s fierce, formidable power, he stands as a lone ranger that even armies fear.  In the movie, he effortlessly defeats Geto, an intimidating special-grade curse user. Yuta’s strength and abilities easily rival Gojo’s, for after training with Miguel Oduol and learning to use different types of cursed tools, he became the second strongest sorcerer in the Jujutsu universe.

1. Satoru Gojo

I mean, who else could it be? Satoru possesses an exceptionally powerful technique in addition to vast quantities of cursed energy, making him the strongest sorcerer in the special grade, with no one coming close to matching him except Sukuna. He stands at the pinnacle of the Jujutsu world, feared and revered as “The Strong One.” Born with the Gojo Clan’s most prized abilities, the Six Eyes and Limitless, his very existence shifted the balance of power. His birth alone sent curse users into hiding and shook even fellow sorcerers. 

Gojo’s unmatched strength made him the cornerstone of modern jujutsu, playing a vital role in combating Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses. His overwhelming presence was such a threat that Kenjaku, unable to kill him, resorted to sealing him in the Prison Realm. Gojo is not just the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer; he is the storm that defines the era.
