Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba | Tier List of All Members Of The Hashira (Ranked In Terms of Strength) Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba | Tier List of All Members Of The Hashira (Ranked In Terms of Strength)

Demon Slayer All Every Hashira Tier List Ranked By Strength

Demon Slayer Hashiras rank among the series' most famous characters, naturally inviting viewers to ask which Hashira ranks above the others in terms of strength. This list ranks not only the current Hashiras in terms of strength but also mentions all past Hashiras, as a number of them have now become Pillars (mentors) in the Demon Slayer Corps, still helping train new demon slayers.

We ranked every Hashira in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime from Strongest to weakest. The Demon Slayer Marks were a significant ranking factor, as this power boost allows them to stand toe to toe with the strongest of the Twelve Kizuki Demons (not all Hashiras unlock this power).

Current Hashira (Ranked From Strongest to Weakest)

1. Gyomei Himejima: The Stone Hashira

Demon Slayer Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima

Gyomei has shown to be the strongest Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps, not only because he’s the bulkiest in terms of muscle mass, but also because he is also rather formidable in battles. Fitting for being the Stone Hashira, he uses an axe and spiked flails in his fighting style; although though he’s blind, he’s still definitely your go-to person when it comes to Hulk-ing and smashing demons to a pulp.

In contrast to his bulking figure, Gyomei also cries at even the slightest thing, especially if it is a pitiful matter. He could easily pass for being the righteous monk of the Demon Slayer Corps, and despite his inability to see, helped a great deal in the battle against Kokushibo, the Upper Rank One Demon Moon in the series. Even Kokushibo praised his skills and respected him despite being opponents.

Did you know he is also Sanemi Shinazugawa’s mentor?

2. Sanemi Shinazugawa: The Wind Hashira

Demon Slayer Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa

If the Demon Slayer Corps was a league of well-mannered people, then Sanemi would be the lone outcast/bad egg. He is the Wind Hashira, and the rashest Hashira in the Corps. He is just like Zaraki Kenpachi from Bleach, as he has a crazy love for battles, and always has fun fighting against a formidable enemy. He disregards his opponent's apparent strength or skill, leaping into battle with sheer enthusiasm. He was later recognized by Kokushibo, as he demonstrated his strength, worth, and Wind Breathing skill.

While mourning the loss of his brother and recovering from multiple severe injuries, he played a significant role in the defeat of Muzan. No one expected that he had an ace up his sleeve, as he displayed his ability to use another sword with his feet, an act that caught Muzan Kibutsuji by surprise. People like Sanemi Shinazugawa are hard to come by, and there is none other like him in Demon Slayer.

3. Giyu Tomioka: The Water Hashira

Demon Slayer Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka

Giyu Tomioka is the Water Hashira and the one who took Tanjiro to Sakonji for training after his family was massacred by a demon and sister turned into one. Giyu is the exact definition of “calm and collected”. He hardly ever speaks and is easily the quietest Hashira. As Nakime is to the Twelve Kizuki in terms of being quiet, so is Giyu to the Demon Slayer Corps.

Giyu has shown his strength and skill many times and has even tied with Sanemi in a light duel. During the mission against the Spider Demon Family, he helped kill the Spider Demon Father and Rui. He also helped Tanjiro in the fight against Akaza, who later killed himself to atone for his crimes; then he went on to aid the demon slayers in the fight against Muzan Kibutsuji. He is a master of Water Breathing and even invented his own water breathing form, Eleventh Form: Dead Calm.

4. Obanai Iguro: The Serpent Hashira

Demon Slayer Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro

Obanai Iguro is the Serpent Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. He often draws comparisons to Toge Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaisen, due to his habit of covering his mouth. But unlike Toge, Obanai sustained some injuries in his mouth and jaw, and hence, has to keep it covered up.

Obanai is also blind in one eye and even lost his other eye in the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji. However, this injury actually improved his strength as it lead him to utilize his serpent, Kaburamaru, as a conduit to enhance his senses, ultimately improving them. His personality is one to not accept failure or any form of mediocrity; he’s also very stringent on rules.

5. Muichirou Tokito: The Mist Hashira

Demon Slayer Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro Tokito is the Mist Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. He’s often been referred to as the child prodigy Hashira in the Corps since he’s the only child among the Hashiras, and it took him a relatively short amount of time of two months to hone his craft, master Mist Breathing, and become a Hashira. He barely ever pays attention to happenings around him and easily gets carried away, often distracted by anything around him.

You might be wondering why a child is ranked above older Hashiras, like Tengen Uzui and Kyojuro Rengoku. During the Swordsmith Village arc, Muichiro's battle against Gyokko, the Upper Rank Five Demon Moon, he demonstrated a great level of skill and ease in killing the Upper Rank demon. Until that point, we had never witnessed such strength in a human during all the battles against the Twelve Kizuki Demons. (We all saw how the Upper Rank Six demons, Daki and Gyutaro, forced a Hashira into retirement and left three other demon slayers in comas).

6. Kyojuro Rengoku: The Flame Hashira

Demon Slayer Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku

Kyojuro Rengoku holds the position of Flame Hashira, a title that was formerly held by his father, Shinjuro Rengoku. He is one of the most loved characters in Demon Slayer, even though he only had a brief appearance in the series.

While Kyojuro couldn't ultimately overcome the formidable Upper Rank Three Demon Moon, Akaza, his display of strength and power with his Flame Breathing style were commendable. Akaza even complimented his skills and endurance. Notably, Akaza extended an offer to transform him into a demon so that they can grow together and fight for all of  eternity. Kyojuro's contribution to the defeat of the Lower Rank One Demon Moon, Enmu, is also worth mentioning.

7. Mitsuri Kanroji: The Love Hashira

Demon Slayer Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri Kanroji has the eyes and hearts of fans for being remarkably pretty, busty, and rather childish too. She is the Love Hashira, but it's best to not underestimate her based on her appearance. This 19-year-old girl would knock the teeth out of any demon she comes in contact with. Her sword, skill, and physical strength are awe-inspiring.

Her fight with Zohakuten, one of Hantengu’s clones remains one of the fastest-paced yet memorable fights in Demon Slayer. She also did help defeat a number of the Upper Ranked Demon Moons too, including Nakime. In the fight against Muzan Kibutsuji, she was able to get some hits in too!

Her personality also embodies her Love Breathing style completely.

8. Tengen Uzui: The Sound Hashira

Demon Slayer Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui

Tengen Uzui is the Sound Hashira, and is known for his flamboyant nature as the Flashiest Hashira. He ensures that everything he engages in, including combat, is done in a flashy manner.

Tengen was the principal protagonist of the Entertainment District Arc of the Demon Slayer story, where he faced off against Daki and Gyutaro with the help of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Nezuko, and his wives. He displayed a great level of skill, coordination, resilience, endurance, and flashiness against the deadly Upper Rank Six Demon Moon duo.

The Demon Slayer Corps lost a Hashira at the end of the Entertainment District Arc, as he retired immediately after Daki and Gyutaro had been simultaneously beheaded and killed. He lost an arm in the battle, but he sure did capture the hearts and respect of fans of the franchise.

9: Shinobu Kocho: The Insect Hashira

Demon Slayer Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu Kocho is the Insect Hashira, and the younger sister of the late former Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho. She is also Kanao Tsuyuri’s adoptive elder sister and one of the more respected members of the Demon Slayer Corps. Shinobou can never be found frowning or angry, as she’s mastered the art of keeping a smile on her face irrespective of the situation. She even always offers to make friends with demons, but only after punishing them for their crimes.

Unlike other demon slayers who always look to behead demons and exert as much physical force as possible, she makes use of a slim sword that all shaft and sharp tips, laced with Wisteria which she merely uses to swiftly cut demons to kill them.

Former Hashira (Ranked From Strongest to Weakest)

While this concludes the list of all 9 active Hashiras in the Demon Slayer series, there are still some former Hashiras the series introduced us to.

10. Kanae Kocho: The (Former) Flower Hashira

Demon Slayer Flower Hashira Kanae Kocho

Not much is known about Kanae Kocho, as she died before the main story of Demon Slayer even started. But this much is certain, she was the Flower Hashira, and was severely injured while fighting a demon, and died in her sister’s hands sometime later. This event was what spurred Shinobu Kocho to become a demon slayer also.

Kanae's last battle with Doma, the third strongest demon in existence, is genuine proof of her strength. Kanae matched his every move to keep him from murdering her out of satisfaction even though she was unable to stop him. Ultimately, as dawn approached, he had to make a hasty exit. Even later in the manga, Doma remembers her and says he wishes he could have devoured her.

11. Shinjuro Rengoku: The (Former) Flame Hashira

Demon Slayer Former Flame Hashira Shinjuro Rengoku

Shinjuro Rengoku is the father of Kyojuro Rengoku, and also the former Flame Hashira. Kyojuro’s abilities and strengths are exactly reminiscent of his father's, as they both became Hashiras of the same technique in their prime. But he doesn’t do much nowadays, asides from lying around all day, drinking sake, and brooding. But unlike how much he pretended, he did grieve Kyojuro’s death in his way and was the most affected by it.

12. Sakonji Urokodaki: The (Former) Water Hashira

Demon Slayer Former Water Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki

Sakonji Urokodaki became the first mystery that Demon Slayer fans found themselves trying to solve, as he always wore a mask, and his face was never revealed. He was the Water Hashira before Giyu Tomioka. He now serves as a mentor to aspiring demon slayers, training them in the arts and preparing them for the Final Selection. Old age hasn’t caught up with him, as he’s shown to still be very smart, fit, and fast while training Tanjiro.

13. Jigoro Kuwajima: The (Former) Thunder Hashira

Demon Slayer Former Thunder Hashira Jigoro Kuwajima

Jigoro Kuwajima is the former Thunder Hashira, and also Zenitsu’s mentor. He also taught Kaigaku, the new Upper Rank Six Demon Moon who replaced Daki and Gyutaro, the art of Thunder Breathing. After seeing the kind of person Zenitsu is, he decided to teach him only the first form of Thunder Breathing: Thunderclap, and Flash, and spurred him on to hone that one form, as it was enough for him. While nothing is known about him while he was on active duty, a simple glance through Zenitsu’s and Kaigaku’s abilities can already give one an idea of what Jigoro was capable of in his youth.
