Satomi Murano can be referred to as the secondary protagonist in the Parasyte: The Maxim anime series. Initially, she was Shinichi’s friend, and it wasn't until much later that they began a romantic relationship. Yuko Tachikawa and Akiho Suzuki are regarded as two of her most reliable pals.
Their love and devotion for one another is hindered by their respective fears: Shinichi's dread of people getting to know about Migi, and Satomi's fear of Shinichi's secretive conduct and mood swings brought on by Shinichi's struggles and tribulations (which became more evident after his mother’s death).
Throughout the course of the series, they form a love connection, but their various anxieties hinder their desire and devotion for one another. Even if she is unaware of Migi's existence, she started getting suspicious that something was off, especially after Shinichi used his new powers to get her out of near-death situations.
Profile

- Name: Satomi Murano
- Age: 17
- Parents: Unknown (unnamed)
- Species: Human (Female)
- Eye Color: Brown
- Hair Color: Brown
- Status: Alive
Background

For a show’s secondary protagonist, and the most dear to the main character, very little to nothing is known about Murano. But seeing as most of the characters of the show also fall in the same category (of having little or no backstory to refer to), it’s not much of a surprise.
One notable thing of her past that the anime did show about her, was when she and Shinichi Izumi first met after their middle school examinations, and she expressed optimism that they would become friends, especially after she confirmed that they both opted for the same school.
Appearance

Murano is also a student in Shinichi’s school, and just like Shinichi, is most often seen in her school uniform. Her uniform comprises of a navy-blue blazer with the school's emblem on the breast pocket, a white dress shirt, a red necktie, a pleated skirt, and black dress shoes.
Typically, Satomi Murano is illustrated as a young woman in her adolescent years with long, black hair tied back into a ponytail. Her complexion is rather pale, and her brown eyes are expressive despite their tiny. Her features resemble those of a lady in that they are often soft and delicate. In the majority of portrayals, she is shown as having a thin or average body type, and she always wears the school uniform. She also has a really sweet and sensitive face, as seen by her charming smile.
Personality

Satomi is shown as a young woman who is normal in many ways, including her intelligence, her kindness, and her generally optimistic perspective on life. Because it is established that she is attracted to Shinichi Izumi at the beginning of the series, her friends make fun of her for feeling this way about him. She goes so far as to praise Shinichi's transformation as "wonderful" and even mentions it to him; but, after doing so, she begins to wonder why he changed and despises his new, more assertive and colder demeanor.
It is evident that Satomi cares deeply for both her friends and Shinichi, as she frequently visits his house to check on him when he is missing from school or appears lost in contemplation. She is very perceptive, as indicated by her recognition of Shinichi's somewhat deformed right hand.
On more than one account, she has shown that she’s very reserved, despite having witnessed the massacre of countless students during Hideo's final stand; she seldom brings it up in conversation. And despite her quiet nature, she demonstrates courage when she is threatened by a serial murderer and defends Shinichi against the perpetrator's insinuations.
Trivia

Satomi Murano is the main focus of Shinichi Izumi's romantic attention, and they form a particular bond throughout the story. Despite the early difficulties caused by Shinichi's never-ending alterations and the horrors occurring around them at the time, they were finally able to establish a point of equilibrium in their relationship. Shinichi's one true love, Satomi, is there at the end of the book to encourage him while he goes through the process of retaking his University Levels Exams.
