It would be difficult to put all the episodes in this filler arc together and talk about them as one, since these episodes are completely separated, at least in terms of plot. They explore the origins and dreams of the Straw Hats, excepting Nico Robin and Luffy.

In order to try and make these episodes a bit of justice we’ll individually cover each one of them here completely on their own. Luckily it’s just five episodes, one for each crew member, so let’s get started with Chopper’s.

Going after the excitement that was the Arabasta Arc was always going to be really challenging no matter what you did, and this arc serves as a good way to calm things down after the war and all the emotions.

Still we do have to keep in mind that even the most boring filler arcs create their own new self-contained stories, whereas this one pretty much goes over some things we already knew about the Straw Hat crew one more time, which can feel a little bit repetitive.

One Piece young Sanji learns in Zeffs kitchen

Not to mention that this is the start of a series of back to back filler arcs coming together in between the Arabasta Saga and the Skypea Saga. So even though this one is the least intrusive, it still feels a little bit heavy, and more repetitive than any of the other fillers coming up in the following episodes.

But since These episodes help us get to know even more about the Straw Hat pirates it is a great way for us to connect with our main characters even more and it keeps us fascinated with all the things they’ve went through and what’s behind their dreams and hopes.

One Piece The Going Merry Usopp Practices Cannon Aim

Keeping all of this in mind, this arc feels like a comfort arc, and we never get tired of learning more about the Straw Hat pirates, so this is actually a pretty nice filler to watch, even though you can feel free to skip it if you want.
